These can be eaten right after making them or I do occassionally make a lot ahead of time and freeze them. The recipe is simple and healthy. I have to be honest here,I don’t measure anything when I cook, you don’t have to either. If you just dump these ingredients in a bowl and mix them up you will be just fine. If it is too wet, add some oats; if it is too dry, add a little coconut oil.

1 cup raw old fashioned oats

1/2 cup total cereal

1/8 cup molasses

1/8 cup peanut butter

1/8 cup coconut oil

sprinkle in some raw pumkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or chopped apple (remove the apple seeds!) or all of these things

I mix this all up, roll into about a 1/2 inch ball and freeze. This is a relatively healthy snack for about twice a week. In fact, for rats that need a little extra something for their diet (sick, underweight, or recovering from surgery) it is a great high energy food. I’ve yet to see a rat turn up its nose to these cookies and they are great for skin and coat.
